Meghan Burroughs
Meghan Burroughs, a spinto soprano, received her Master of Music in vocal performance at the University of Memphis, specializing in opera, oratorio, and art song.
Meghan performed her masters recital in early April with works by Reynaldo Hahn, Manuel de Falla, Robert Schumann, and Ricky Ian Gordon. She performed Symphony No. 2 “Voices” by James Stephenson with the University of Memphis Wind Ensemble in late February 2024. Meghan has been featured in roles such as Donna Elvira from Don Giovanni, Veronique from Le Docteur Miracle, Mary from The Nefarious, Immoral, but Highly Profitable Acts of Mr. Burke and Mr. Hare, and Coordinator from Speed Dating Tonight! Meghan was awarded second place in the Beethoven Club Young Artist Competition in April 2024, third place in the Schubert Club Bruce P. Carlson Scholarship competition in March 2024, and selected as a finalist in competitions such as the Beethoven Club Savell Competition.

Meghan Burroughs seeks to challenge societal perceptions and stereotypes surrounding disability, fostering a more inclusive and equitable environment within the classical music world. Furthermore, within her studio setting, Meghan plans to integrate adaptive techniques and methodologies into her teaching practice, ensuring that students of all abilities have equal access to vocal training.
Upon returning to Minnesota in June 2024, Meghan Burroughs intends to continue her pursuit of roles in the opera world while based in the Midwest. Additionally, she plans to utilize digital platforms and remote audition opportunities to broaden her reach and remain connected to the broader opera community beyond the confines of geography.
Meghan Burroughs recently received her Masters of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of Memphis. Meghan Burroughs boasts a rich academic background, having earned dual degrees from Lawrence University—a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and a Bachelor of Music in vocal performance. Her multidisciplinary education not only cultivated her musical talents but also provided her with a nuanced understanding of human behavior and emotion, enriching her interpretations on stage. Meghan spent a semester abroad in Vienna, where she studied under the guidance of Donna Robin. Her primary teachers include Estelí Gomez and Paulina Villarreal, whose guidance and expertise have played an integral role in shaping her as an artist.
